BAND | HARRISON | HORSEMOUTH | MARCUS URANI | RYAN | WILL
Harrison Stafford, Ryan Newman, and Marcus Urani have been a part of the international music group Groundation since they formed the group back in 1998. Journalists have proclaimed them to have created their own style of Reggae music. Certainly they have recorded some of the more adventuresome and challenging albums in recent time. All three are California natives with Marcus and Harrison from the East Bay and Ryan from Humboldt County. For Marcus and Harrison growing up in the Bay Area exposed them to many musical genres including Hip-Hop, Rock, Funk, and Soul. Jazz music is a foundation for these three musicians; Harrison’s Father played jazz piano, Ryan grew up playing Jazz from a very young age with his brother Mike on saxaphone, and it was a concert many years ago that Marcus got the spark of music from an Oscar Peterson performance. Through the years they have develop not just a unique sound as Groundation, but individually, Ryan on Bass, Marcus on Keyboards, and Harrison on vocals, have developed a truly identifying sound.
